Make a barcode label in four steps

  1. Set the label size — width and height in inches, for example 2 × 1 in or 4 × 6 in.
  2. Add a barcode and choose the type, then type the number.
  3. Add text — product name, price, item code. Text can wrap, stay on one line or shrink to fit its box.
  4. Print at 100% scale. Barcodes are printed at the exact size of their box on the canvas.

Tips for barcodes that always scan

Need many different barcodes? Print a batch from Excel or Google Sheets — one label per row.

Barcode label FAQ

How do I make a barcode label?

Open the designer, set your label width and height in inches (for example 2 × 1 in), add a barcode, type the number and choose the symbology (for example EAN-13 for retail products or Code 128 for internal codes). Add text such as the product name and price, then click Print.

Will the barcode scan after printing?

Barcodes are drawn as vectors and printed at the exact size of their box, so they stay sharp. For thermal printers, keep bars at least 0.01 in (2 dots at 203 dpi) wide and leave a quiet zone (empty margin) on both sides of the code.

Where do I get an EAN-13 or UPC number?

Retail barcode numbers (GTINs) are issued by your local GS1 member organisation. The designer checks the check digit, but it cannot register numbers for you.

Can I print several labels per row?

Yes. Set the label size to the full row width (for example 4 × 1 in for two 2 × 1 in labels) and place the barcodes side by side, or start from a 2-up / 3-up template.
